I enjoy a malfunctioning USB port, how do I fix it?

A different puppy chewed the USB cable from my printer to a port on the backside of my PC. This caused a letdown of my power supply. I have disconnected the printer and put within a new power supply. Everything works fine but I receive a continous prompt stating there is a power surge on a USB port. There is nought running of any USB's and I have successfully used my IPOD at every available port. However, the bubble keep popping up saying "Power surge on USB port." Wont dance away. Is there a course to disconnect a USB port?

It's a false alert.

There are two ways to resolve this problem.

1. ) Microsoft has a hotfix that you can download from the Support Knowledgebase that will correct this issue.

OR

2.) You can "Manually" turn rotten the messages.

Here's how:

*Log-On as an Administrator

*Open Device Manager

*Locate and click the plus sign next to "Universal Serial Bus Controller"

*Locate any entry that have "USB Host Controller" in it's description.

*Right-click it and select "Properties" later left-click the "Advanced" tab.

*Put a check in "Disable USB error detection"

*Click "Apply" afterwards "OK"

***Repeat the process for each "USB Host Controller" scheduled.

Close "Device Manager" and restart your PC.
You can buy new USB next to provision for inserting in your PCI slot.
