Sata is faster but you will hold to see if you use a sata if it doesn't have to be the prime or master drive on your system.
Sata drives you cant set master as with regular settle drives.
SATA.
Much much faster, and plus, you dont have to own a cable running outside your pc.
If it be me, I would hook it up using the SATA connection. It should be faster than the USB.
Bus Speed (Bytes/Sec)
------------------------------...
USB 1.0 192 kB/s
USB 1.1 1.5 MB/s
USB 2.0 60 MB/s
Serial ATA (SATA-150) 1.5 Gb/s = 187.5 MB/s
Serial ATA (SATA-300) 3 Gb/s = 375 MB/s
Note: The average drive supports give or take a few 50-60 MB/s. Good SATA read (pay note to port multipliers) @ source down.
