I hold a Seagate External Hard Disc. Do I own to switch it past its sell-by date when I'm not using my PC.?

Is it ok to exit it running everyday?

Hi, I have one too! The thing's whiz around at 7200 Rpm. I suppose it has some caring of bearings, so though you don't HAVE to, it will prolong the duration of your disc to turn it off. The newer models hold shock resist, but until recently, they be very shock sensitive, so if the cleaning female, or your baby brother or even you bonk the entity while it's spinning around at 7200 rpm it can damage it. You lose data- your disc messes up. Smarter to turn it rotten!

You can leave it running, it singular uses a little liquid when not used for a while. It's not going to overheat or anything. Just don't drop it. Mine broke ending summer.

i wouldnt. just unplug the power.
You can move off it running, but it will last longer if you switch it past its sell-by date.
You can leave it running unless you are not going to use it for a few days. Most external intricate drives are built so you can leave them running. The own a special seal that allows you to walk off it running with out doing any spoil. They also go into thier own standby mode.
You dont enjoy to but it'll shorten its life if you dont.
It spins down when it's not human being used. They're used as backup drives and would probably run for 20 years before they wore out.
good idea to buy a rental car
