i hold an ancient compaq presario 1274 l want to install linux ubuntu but i wonder do i hold ample memory ?

the nouns top is like 6 yrs outdated. and it has a bootleg copy of window xp pro on it now that have a WGN notification on it and has be a problem ever since. me and my roomate decided to cram linux and thought we would install it, but i just saw you call for more memory then i have an idea that the computer has on it.

Haha, you're not supposed to vote that XP is bootleg online, if you're using such a copy.



Anyways, install Xubuntu or Gentoo, both of which are pretty fast. But you largely need to own some linux know-how to do so. These 2 version of linux are optimized for your hardware, so assuming that they have the required drivers, your system should be faster than it is next to ubuntu. I think Xubuntu have more online support.
You need 256mb of knock against to install the full version of UBUNTU. However their is a "lighter" magazine XUBUNTU which will run on less memory.
