I tried to install Windows XP Professional on this system and presently the monitor will not display correctly and my modem does not work properly. I do not have the orginal CD's to install things - what do I do and where on earth do I go to take the information?

You need to install the drivers from the manufacturer website (since you don't have the driver CD)
You can download them, collect them on a CD or flash drive if you own and install them on the mentioned PC...
I will try to get you a direct interconnect for your drivers.
